Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko proposed developing mining cryptocurrency, citing the country’s surplus electricity. According to him, more and more business representatives interested in developing this segment are turning to him.
Addressing Energy Minister Alexei Kushnarenko, Alexander Lukashenko noted that other countries, especially the United States, are investing more and more in the development of infrastructure related to cryptocurrency mining.
The head of state emphasized that solo mining is currently being studied by government agencies, not relying solely on investment funds.
In addition, Lukashenko said that it is urgent to change and update the power grids. The country needs to modernize at least 5700 km of power grids, given the growing demand for electricity from residents and industry.
Currently, individuals in Belarus can mine cryptocurrencies without restrictions and taxes, and legal entities can mine cryptocurrency only if they are residents of the High-Tech Park. Residents of this special economic zone can carry out any operations with crypto assets without paying income tax.
