Founded in 2018, Taiwanese crypto exchange BitoPro lost more than $11,5 million in a hack in early May. However, the company did not inform its users about the incident until June 2.
For reference, BitoPro is one of the leading exchanges in Taiwan with a daily trading volume of about $25 million.
The alleged exploit was first reported by blockchain security expert ZackXBT, 25 days after the theft.
You don’t want to explain to the community why a suspicious outflow of about $8 million was noticed from several of your hot wallets on May 2025, 11,5, which you still haven’t reported to X or Telegram a few weeks later? — the expert wrote.
ZackXBT also reported that digital assets stolen from BitoPro included эфириум, TRX, SOL, MATIC, which were immediately transferred to the Tornado Cash crypto mixer after the exploit, and then converted to Bitcoin via the decentralized exchange THORChain. After that, the BTC were transferred to Wasabi, Bitcoin- open source wallet with privacy protection.
To reassure concerned users, the BitoPro team wrote that their funds are completely safe.
