In May, the trading platform NFT OpenSea registered its largest monthly active user base since mid-2023.
According to Dune Analytics, in May there were 467,322 users on the platform who made one or more transactions, which is in line with the levels of mid-2022 to early 2023. There may be even more active users in June, as the current number is 236,091.
Despite the increased interest in OpenSea, monthly trading volume on the platform NFT remains well below the 2021 and early 2022 levels that preceded the market downturn NFTIf in May 2025 the volume was $81 million, then in January 2022 the peak monthly volume exceeded $5 billion.
The increase in the number of active users may be due to official launch of OS2 May 29, with potential rewards pending. The beta was exclusive to Gemesis holders NFT (collection of 94,757 NFT, created OpenSea in April 2023) and was intended to test new features.
Now platform users can trade tokens and NFT in 19 networks, including support for fungible tokens Solana. OS2 also features an updated rewards system called Voyages, which awards XP (experience points) for online activities.
Users also expect that their activity on the platform will allow them to participate in the upcoming airdrop of the native SEA token, although the release dates are not yet known.
