Conservative historian Karol Nawrocki has won Poland‘s presidential election, gaining 50,89% of the vote in the second round, beating liberal Rafal Trzaskowski.
The victory, confirmed by the National Electoral Commission, gave Nawrocki the opportunity to influence Poland’s future policy towards the growing cryptocurrency sector.
Karol Nawrocki, who is an outspoken supporter of US President Donald Trump, has repeatedly stated his desire to make Poland «the birthplace of innovation, not regulation» of cryptocurrencies.
Interestingly, Nawrocki himself does not own cryptocurrency, but his position has inspired voters who support libertarian and nationalist movements in Poland.
Although Nawrocki’s executive powers are limited compared to those of the prime minister, his connections to conservative parties could influence parliamentary debates.
Analysts are now watching to see whether Poland will follow the example of the United States under Donald Trump, who signed an executive order on March 6, 2025, to create a Bitcoin Strategic Reserve using confiscated crypto assets.
The crypto community is probably hoping that the Polish president and his family will refrain from issuing memecoins.
