Buterin also acknowledged that Bitcoin surpasses эфириум in some aspects: simplicity of coding, fewer protocol changes, fewer nodes, and its lesser reliance on remote procedure call or RPC services such as Infura, Alchemy or Ankr.
Other crypto industry experts agree. Bitcoin’s model retains significant advantages given that its codebase is less complex, allowing BTC to be sent via safe and secure transfers. At the same time, the code Ethereum more complex due to smart contracts and EVM.
Unlike Ethereum, which has undergone around 20 major network upgrades, including the latest Pectra upgrade on May 8, Bitcoin has seen significantly fewer protocol changes compared to its original model.
In another post of mine Vitalik Buterin highlighted Ethereum’s top priorities and areas to focus on in the Layer 2 ecosystem. Responding to another user who wrote that interoperability was «solved» at the infrastructure level, Buterin disagreed, saying that there was still a lot to be done in that direction.
The problem will not be solved until actions within L2 become as censorship-resistant, trustless, and free of intermediaries as actions within L2, Buterin said.
